ROXBURY — Roxbury Historical Society will present a Civil War Encampment and Battle Reenactment on Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27. The event will take place on the beautiful Gavel Family Farm Preserve, a Roxbury Land Trust property at Upper County and Good Hill Road (Route 317).

Admission is $5, with children under 12 admitted without charge. Tickets are good for both days and parking is free.

Gates will open at 10 am each day. Activities occur throughout the day, with the Battle Reenactment scheduled for 2 pm.

Period items and clothing will be sold.

On Saturday from 5 to 8 pm, the historical society will host an old time chicken barbeque, with fresh corn on the cob, potato salad and ice cream.

On Sunday the public is welcome to join the troops for breakfast from 8 to 10 am. For $5, patrons will enjoy pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.

Due to the expected volume of visitors, it is recommended that tickets be purchased in advance for the barbeque. Tickets will be on sale outside Roxbury Market on Saturday and Sunday, July 19-20, from 8 am to noon.
