BROOKFIELD – With four consecutive wins, the Newtown Babe Ruth Baseball 13-year-old All Star team is in good shape in the single-elimination Brookfield Invitational Tournament. Newtown defeated Bethel (5-4), New Milford (11-1), Aspetuck (3-0) and Washington (5-2).

In the win over Bethel, Greg Rodden and Blake Barreto banged out second-inning doubles to push in runs to secure the win. Barreto, Jeff Davis and Rodden also combined on the mound to hold the game.

In the win over New Milford, PJ Cochrane, Rodden Jared Modzelewski, Mike Woessner, and Nick Urso fueled a six-hit sequence that produced an eight-run rally. Jeff Davis, Woessner and Cochrane combined on the mound to hold New Milford to only three hits.

In the win over Aspetuck, Modzelewski, Alex Magoulas, Cochrane and Davis combined for four hits to propel the offense. Modzelewski, Kurtis Liska, Barreto and Woessner held down the mound to hold Aspetuck to one hit.

And in the win over Washington, Ryan Clark was 3-for-3, Woessner was 2-for-3 and Cochrane was 2-for-3 to power the offense. Magoulas, Clark, Urso and Cochrane combined on a four-hitter.
