The State Department of Transportation has begun the preliminary design phase of the proposed replacement of Bridge No 02840, which carries Route 302 over Deep Brook in Newtown, Transportation Commissioner James F. Sullivan announced on July 11.
âIt is the departmentâs policy to keep persons informed and involved when such projects are undertaken,â said Mr Sullivan. âIt is important that the community be involved and share its concerns with us to assist in the projectâs development.â
A public informational hearing may be conducted once preliminary plans have been prepared.
The project schedule indicates that construction will start in the fall of 2002, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding, and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits.
