Newtown Girl Is Participating In Scholarship Pageant This Weekend
Alexandra Doniger of Newtown was selected recently to participate in the Nationals 2001 Miss Junior Teen New Haven Pageant competition, which is coming up this weekend. Alexandra had submitted an application and took part in an interview session conducted by Patty Neider, this yearâs New Haven Pageant coordinator, in order to quality for the July 21 event.
The Newtown resident will be among those competing for a share of over $20,000 in scholarships, prizes and specialty gifts. She will be competing in the Miss Jr Teen division, one of five divisions that will includes young ladies between the ages of 6 and 23 competing in modeling routines including casual and formal wear.
More importantly, Alexandra will display her personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with the New Haven judging panel. Personality has been placed as the number one aspect each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.
If Alexandra were to win the title of Miss Jr New Haven, she would represent the greater New Haven area at Cities of America National Competition in Orlando, Fla. Over $60,000 in prizes and awards will be presented during the national competition, and each winner will enjoy an all-expense paid trip of five nights and six days in Orlando.
There is no cost to Alexandra to participate in the pageant competition. Community businesses, organizations and private individuals have assisted Miss Doniger in participating in the competition by sponsoring her. Through sponsorship, each contestant receives all the necessary training, rehearsals and financial support which help each girl become very confident and well-prepared contestants in the pageant.
Alexandra is the daughter of Nancy and Paul Doniger.
