John H.

Wrabel

John H. Wrabel, 60, a retired captain of Monroe Police Department, died July 16 in Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Laurie (King) Wrabel and lived on Brushy Hill Road, Newtown.

Mr Wrabel was born in Bridgeport on June 27, 1940, a son of Edna (Wilson) Wrabel of Westfield, Vt., and the late Rudolf C. Wrabel. He grew up in Monroe and was a graduate of Newtown High School (before Masuk High School was built).

In 1966 Mr Wrabel joined Monroe Police Department and served 32 years, retiring in 1998 with the rank of captain. He had been a resident of Newtown since 1997 and was an avid fisherman.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include a son, Pierce H. Wrabel of Danbury and a daughter, Johnna Mullen of Shelton; one brother, Robert Wrabel of Westfield, Vt.; and one sister, Susan Tompkins of Newtown. He was predeceased by a son, John Wrabel, and by a brother, Rudy Wrabel.

Funeral services were held July 20 from Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in Newtown Village Cemetery.
