Hartford Stage Is Holding General Auditions

HARTFORD — General auditions will be held at Hartford Stage for local Equity and non-Equity actors for the 2000-01 season.

The auditions will be conducted, by appointment only, Wednesday and Thursday, July 26-27, from 10 am to 5 pm each day. Auditions will be at Hartford Stage’s rehearsal studio, in the Richardson Building at 942 Main Street. Call 860/525-5601 for an appointment.

Actors should prepare two monologues, one classical and one contemporary, which combined should not run more than three minutes in length. They should also bring a recent photograph and their acting resume.

Auditioners will be seen by Tracy Brigden, the company’s associate artistic director, and other members of Hartford Stage’s artistic staff.

Productions for the coming season include Macbeth by William Shakespeare; A Christmas Carol, adapted by Hartford Stage artistic director Michael Wilson; Oedipus the King by Sophocles; A Doll House by Henrick Ibsen; The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams; and Moliere by William Luce.

Non-Equity actors please note: You must be local to attend these auditions. Housing will not be provided for local actors.

Also, two local, non-AEA boys, ages 8-12, will be cast for Macbeth. Children’s auditions for A Christmas Carol will be conducted in the fall.
