Gary Andrew Marinelli, 67, of Newtown, passed away on July 11, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 22, 1952, in Oakland, Calif., to Carmine and Laura Marinelli.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Marinelli of Newtown; son, Gary Anthony Marinelli of Boston; sisters, Sharon Guevara of North Port, Fla., Carol Garbauskas of North Port, Fla., and Pamela Ann Marinelli of Torrington; brother, Carmine Marinelli III of Frederick, Colo.; father, Carmine Marinelli of North Port, Fla.; dog, Max; and many nieces and nephews.

He went to John F. Kennedy High School in Waterbury, where he grew up.

Gary served proudly in the Navy and fought in the Vietnam War, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Bronze Star.

He worked for the United States Postal Service and owned his own home improvement business.

Gary was passionate about family, sports, and loved going to the beach.
