Think 'Light At Night'
Think âLight At Nightâ
To the Editor:
Our roads are windy with many blind corners, and potholes to avoid. They are, in some places, narrow with trees and shrubs making them even more narrow. Nighttime driving on them is also a unique challenge with the wildlife out.
The reason I state what we already know is to draw attention to the fact that it is summer and this increases the risk of bicyclists and walkers being on our roads. Many times after dark I find myself being surprised by a pedestrian or bicyclist dressed in dark clothing. Please, if you are out on the roads wear light clothing or get reflective tape.
Teens, I know it isnât something you think of much, but we in the cars really canât see you. Get a light-colored hoodie to wear when out at night.
Parents, I know times are more difficult but get them something they are willing to wear. Look at yourself or your child before you, or they hit the roads for a stroll or ride. Iâm a RN who would like to see a decline in the traumas entering our hospitals. Think âlight at night.â
