Thanks To Many

To the Editor:

I would like to thank the Relay For Life committee for allowing me to be a small part of such a wonderful group of supporters and caregivers.

Many thanks go out to Brian Neumeyer the culinary chef (teacher) at Newtown High School and staff members Laura Hoagland and Steve Oshana for helping to involve their culinary students to be a big part of the Relay For Life today and in years to come. It is a part of their end of the year school project. Getting the young generations to volunteer their time to help us try and find a cure for cancer shows me our future looks bright.

I would also like to thank the Pepsi Company, Pepperidge Farm, Berkshire Refrigeration and Ice House of Danbury, The Pig-Man of Monroe, Dandy Distributions of Danbury, and Newtown Youth Academy for all of their support and donations.

Hats off to Carl Samuelson, John Moore, and the staff at the Newtown Parks & Recreation for the outstanding job they all did. Brian and his students turned a fundraiser into a Texas BBQ, with a roasted pig, mouthwatering pulled pork, tacos, burgers, hot dogs, chili, coleslaw, corn on the cob, fresh brownies and cookies that put a smile on everyone’s face from children to seniors.

It was a great day as my mom (Sylvia Frangione), a ten-year cancer survivor, celebrated her 78th birthday with my family. With support like this, year after year, I know we will find a cure for cancer, and that puts a big smile on my face.
