Puzzling Crash

Police report they are investigating a motor vehicle accident in which a 17-year-old girl from Sandy Hook was the driver. Because she is under age 18, she is considered a “youthful offender” and thus her identity is shielded from disclosure under state law, according to police.

Police said they received a call from the girl at about 2:13 am on July 9, to report an accident that had occurred at some earlier time at an unspecified location.

In that accident, a 2009 Subaru Forester SUV, which was being driven by that girl, was damaged, receiving left-rear quarterpanel and bumper damage, according to police. The girl did not disclose where the collision occurred, police said.

Police said they issued the girl a violation for driving a vehicle without a license.

DUI Charge

Police report that after they received a complaint about a vehicle being driven by an apparently intoxicated person, they went to Sunnyview Terrace to investigate at about 8:20 pm July 14.

Police said they gave motorist Ronald Wallenta, 57, of 23 Sunnyview Terrace field sobriety tests, after which they charged him with driving under the influence and with misuse of a marker plate.

Police released Wallenta on $125 bail for a July 28 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.

Mt Nebo Road

A one-vehicle accident occurred on Mt Nebo Road about 1:52 pm July 14.

Police said motorist Jonathan Hull, 58, of 6 Fern Lane was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck near 5 Mt Nebo Road, when he backed up the vehicle and one of the truck’s rolling wheels inadvertently broke a wooden cover for a drainage culvert. Town road workers were called to fix the damage. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Moving Violations

Motorist Picasso Petion, 23, of Bridgeport was driving a vehicle on Main Street which had an obscured marker plate at about 10:37 am July 14, so police stopped him to investigate.

Police charged Petion with driving with an obscured marker plate and with driving with a suspended license. Petion posted $100 bail for a July 28 court appearance.
