The Newtown Babe Ruth 12-year-old Cal Ripken all stars rolled to the District 5 championship last weekend with a 21-1 thrashing of Bethel.
Alex Magoulas set the tone early with a two-run homer in the first inning.
But the day belonged to center fielder Jeff Davis who went 4-for-4 at the plate, including a grand slam. He also drove in six runs in the victory, which was stopped early due to the 10-run slaughter rule.
Bob Lapple went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Tony Gallucci added three hits and three RBIs.
Newtown advances to the Babe Ruth state tournament at Rogers Park in Danbury. The team plays its first game Saturday at 10 am against Bolton.
