NYCAAP Preparing For Next Year
NYCAAP Preparing For Next Year
One out of every 125 people in Connecticut is HIV positive. This is a scary statistic. That is why there are student groups throughout the community working towards ending the HIV/AIDS pandemic. NYCAAP, Newtown Youth Creating AIDS Awareness for Peers, is a group of high school students dedicated to raising awareness of HIV/AIDS in the community. It is a program of Newtown Youth Services and does a variety of service projects throughout the year involving HIV/AIDS awareness.Â
On August 6 and August 20, at 6 pm, they will be holding orientations for any high school students in Newtown interested in joining the group. New members will be asked to attend a training session with all returning members on August 24. If you are interested and would like to find out more about this session, please call Newtown Youth Services at 270-4335.
