Newtown Women’s Softball League results from recent action are as follows:

My Place 10, Petzercise 6: Jennifer Good hit a three-run home run in the third inning, and Heather Burke pitched a good game, striking out the final batter for the win.

Reach 7, Black Swan 4: Leading the Reach offense were Melissa England, Lindsey Carley, and Ali Cordova. Exceptional defense by Kathy Piccini, Courtney Kowcheris, and Shelby Rotunda helped Reach in a very close game. For Black Swan, Ashley Kuligowski made a diving catch at third then tagged out the runner for a double play. Rosie Jackman made a nice dive catch at second, and Kayla Mesko made a nice running catch behind the plate. Melissa Fracker pitched a complete game, striking out four batters.

Cork N’ Barrel 9, Donate Life 5: In the win, Emily Woznick smacked a three-run home run to deep right center field. Denise Croden and Joyce Kaine both hit doubles, with Croden bringing in two runs. The Cork’s infield was solid with great plays by shortstop Woznick and second baseman Desiree Scott. Karen Alexander pitched a strong game and made some key plays from the circle.
