Pamela E. (Piper) Smith, 44, the wife of Barry Smith of Crossbrook Road, Newtown, died unexpectedly on July 12 at her home.
Mrs Smith was born in Princeton, N.J., on November 13, 1959, a daughter of Manfred Piper of Chapel Hill, N.C., and the late Carol (Bowen) Piper. She was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1977.
A resident of Newtown since 1987, she was a part-time self-employed bookkeeper. Pam was an active member of Newtown Congregational Church and served on many committees there. She was a former Girl Scout leader, a board member of the Wilton Y swim team, and was active in many school and community activities.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by two daughters, Denise Lawson and Carol Ann Smith, both of Newtown; one brother, Bruce Piper of Midlothian, Va.; two sisters, Sara Kopacz of Westmont, N.J., and Karen Piper of Bordentown, N.J.; her stepmother, Betty Piper of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and two nephews and a niece.
Funeral services will begin at 2 pm on Saturday, July 17, at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, with the Rev Steve Gordon officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Friday, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm.
