Albertina W. Wood

Albertina W. Wood, 73, wife of Alfred Wood of Little Brook Lane, Newtown, died July 12 in Danbury Hospital.

Mrs Wood was born in Reigensburg, Germany, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Wilheim Coleman. She came to the United States in 1953 and has been a resident of Newtown the past 30 years. For many years, until her retirement January 1, 2004, Mrs Wood was the head of the laundry department at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Albert Mengden of South Windsor; a daughter, Raissa Lutz of Marshalls Creek, Penn.; grandchildren, Allison Greydanus and her husband Jim of Newtown; Ria Oney and her husband Brian, and Brook Lutz and Brandon Lutz, all of Marshalls Creek, Penn.; Erick Mengden, Michael Mengden, and Samantha Mengden, all of South Windsor; and brothers and sisters living in Germany.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 15, at 8 pm in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Cremation will be private. Calling hours at the Honan Funeral Home were scheduled for Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm.
