A Newtown Police officer and a member of Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps check the interior of a 2012 Nissan Versa after the sedan crashed into a utility pole along Little Brook Lane mid-afternoon Monday, July 8. Botsford Fire Rescue also responded to the crash, which closed the road to through-traffic for a few hours. The Nissan driver and passenger were both checked for injuries. Eversource needed to respond to the scene to contend with the damaged poles before the car could be towed and the road reopened. The closure added a second challenge for drivers that afternoon. Little Brook was already seeing a high volume of traffic on Monday, when paving and milling work began on adjacent Button Shop Road. Additional details were unavailable. —Bee Photo, Hicks
