Bringing Back The Tuesday Tunes
Children and parents alike gathered in the Edmond Town Hall Theatre to enjoy the music of Steve Elci and Friends on Tuesday afternoon. He performed old classics, new favorites, and even a pirate song that did not disappoint despite the high heat. The concert, originally scheduled for Dickinson Memorial Park, still saw a great turnout and a lively dance floor.
Steve Elci has been creating music for kids since 2008 and is set to release his latest album next Friday, July 19. His music is on all streaming platforms for those who want to keep listening after the performance. He has been performing for Newtown’s Tuesday Tunes series for four years now, and only once has he been to Dickinson. Every year his concert has been moved to the town hall due to the weather. Elci started with classic songs every child learns in school, such as “Wheels on the Bus” and “The Itsy Bitsy Spider.” After wrapping those songs up, he transitioned to his original songs, including some that will be on the new album.
Elci’s favorite part of performing for families is “seeing the children and the parents together dance, smile, and sing in unity.” He got to see that come to fruition during his song “Jump in the Puddles.” He invited all the kids to come up and dance with him, safely, and they all jumped together to rumble the floor of Edmond Town Hall.
Steve Elci and Friends was the first band to perform this year for the Tuesday Tunes series at Dickinson Memorial Park, sponsored by The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library. The next band scheduled is Rolie Polie Guacamole on July 16 at 2 pm. Registration is encouraged for venue changes in case of inclement weather, such as extreme heat or rain. Call the library at 203-426-4533 or visit chboothlibrary.org to register.
Additional bands to come are Al deCant on July 23, BenAnna Band on July 30, and Judy Pancoast on August 6. All performances start at 2 pm.
