Reverie Brewing Company and Newtown Bike & Trail Committee invite readers to join them to clean up local hiking trails.

On Saturday, August 5, Reverie will host a trail cleanup day to help restore Al’s Trail in Newtown in conjunction with Newtown Bike & Trail Committee.

Anyone who would like to volunteer can do so by visiting Reverie, at 57-B Church Hill Road, during business hours and giving their name and email to one of the tap room’s bartenders, or email the information to events@reveriebrewing.com.

The cleanup day will also coincide with the release of one of Reverie’s annual beers, Blimp (6.7 percent NEIPA). Blimp was the original brand for Reverie and is synonymous with its motto, “Don’t Quit Your Daydream,” which reminds people to pursue the things in life they love. It only feels right to the Reverie owners to align the Blimp brand with giving back to their core values, which have always been community and sustainability.

Every year Blimp is brewed, five percent of all sales of the beer, both draft and cans, gets donated to a local cause. This year, proceeds will be donated to the Newtown Bike and Trail Committee. Volunteers will be able to get their hands on a four-pack before it’s released in Reverie’s taproom and will also be treated to pizza and a beer on Reverie after the trail cleanup.

In addition, Reverie will also be hosting a meet and greet with the author of Beer Hiking New England, Carey Michael Kish. Published in March, Kish’s book features 50 carefully selected New England hikes, each leading through stunning scenery and featuring a nearby brewery, including Reverie.

Kish will also be available for book signings that day. Copies of the book are currently available for purchase at Reverie.

Carey Michael Kish's "Beer Hiking New England," published in March, features 50 carefully selected New England hikes. Each hike heads through stunning scenery and features a nearby brewery, including Reverie Brewing Company. Kish will be part of the day of events co-hosted by the Church Hill Road brewery and Newtown Bike & Trails Committee on August 5. —Helvetiq image
