LaVina “Viney” Merrill, 70, died June 26. Born in Friend, Neb., she moved to Marion County, Fla., in 1989 from Newtown, where she worked as an inspector of tank engines.

She is survived by sons Robert and Jesse, and daughters Marchelle Connell and Cindy Karlok; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Robert Merrill, her husband of 54 years, preceded her in death February 8, 2011.

A memorial service will take place at 11 am, Saturday, July 16, at Countryside Funeral Home, 9185 NE Jacksonville Road, Anthony, Fla.
