Jane & Joseph Misencik Recognized By Masonicare

Volunteers Jane and Joseph Misencik of Trumbull were recently honored by Masonicare for their more than 20 years of volunteer service to Masonicare at Newtown. The Luke A. Lockwood Award was presented to the couple on June 11 at the annual Grand Masters Day celebration held on Masonicare’s Wallingford campus.

The Lockwood Award was created in 1970 by Masonicare’s Board of Trustees to recognize individuals and organizations for outstanding service to Masonicare. The award is named after Luke Lockwood, president of the first Board of Directors of The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut in 1889.               

Masonicare’s President and CEO Stephen B. McPherson praised the Misenciks for their exceptional service, which began more than 20 years ago when Jane’s mother was a resident at Masonicare at Newtown. 

“Jane and Joe’s help with recreational activities is legendary: running the popular Friday afternoon Bingo, helping with crafts fairs and bake sales, transporting residents to weekly worship services and so much more,” said Mr McPherson. “They’ve been friends to many residents at Masonicare at Newtown, and are superb examples of volunteerism at its best.” 

The Misenciks recently moved to Masonicare at Ashlar Village, Masonicare’s Continuing Care Retirement Community in Wallingford.

In addition to Masonicare at Newtown, Masonicare affiliates include Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice, Masonicare Health Center and Masonicare at Ashlar Village in Wallingford, and The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut.
