Library Board Elects Officers
The Board of Trustees of the Cyrenius H. Booth Library last week approved the nomination of Robert N. Cox to a three-year position on the 18-member board. A member of the staff of Joel Barlow High School in Redding where he teaches English, literature, and journalism, Mr Cox has been a resident of Newtown since 1969.
The board also elected officers for 2002-03. They include Joseph Humeston, president; Dr Phillip Kotch, vice president; Richard Sturdevant, treasurer; Patricia Denlinger, secretary.
During the meeting in the community room of the library, outgoing board member William Lavery, chief judge of the Connecticut Appellate Court, was honored for his decade of service on the library board.
âBoth past and present trustees owe you a debt of gratitude for the vital role you played in the libraryâs expansion,â Mr Humeston said. âOur patrons, our community, our neighbors, and visitors to Newtown all thank you for your important and indispensable contribution in overseeing the building of this beautiful addition and preserving our library.
âThank you for your leadership and direction during your tenure on the board,â Mr Humeston said, adding âI want to personally thank you for your sage advice and the wisdom you have brought to me as well this fine board.â
