Bikers Against Child Abuse Planning July 22 Open House
Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) Western Connecticut Chapter members are planning an open house for Saturday, July 22, at VFW Post 308, on Freedom Defenders Way (18 Tinkerfield Road) in Newtown from 2 to 8 pm. The public is invited to enjoy food, drink, raffles, and entertainment. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. The club is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Performing are two bands, Murray the Wheel and Social Connection. There will be raffles including a silent auction for a signed original drawing donated by Kevin-John Studios in Florida (value $300).
"There are families here that can benefit greatly from BACA and meeting us is the first step to getting help. We hope to reach as many as possible at our upcoming event," said President Irish Baca. Recently, Newtown residents may have seen BACA members passing out flyers to the local businesses, all of which were helpful and agreed to post a flyer in their shop window. Foundry Kitchen and Tavern even donated a $100 gift card to raffle at the event.
BACA has been in Connecticut for more than ten years. The Western Connecticut Chapter has been operating in the state since March 19, 2015, and achieved full chapter status on September 12, 2016.
Also recently supporting the BACA cause was The Big 50 of Southington, which donated a motorcycle trailer; Sign Pro Inc of Plantsville donated the wrap, and Tire Depot of Bristol donated the tires and rims.
"We hope to reach those families and kids in Connecticut who are still unaware of BACA's existence; they may see our trailer rolling down the highway or through town and decide to call our helpline," said Irish Baca. "If we can start helping even one new child the trailer is worth its weight in gold. ÃÂ It stands out and will definitely get noticed.
"Those who see it may decide to look us up online and support our mission with a donation," he said.
