In its upcoming fourth season with the Newtown Parks and Recreation Department, Dave and Gregâs Tennis will be providing new tennis options for young players. Two new afternoon camps this summer will start July 24. A junior camp will be offered August 21-24 in the morning hours. All classes will be held at Dickinson Park. Western United Girls Soccer
Western United Girls Soccer will be holding try-outs for the 2006/2007 season for the U13 & U14 teams on Saturday, July 15, from 6:30 to 8 pm, at Pomperaug High School in Southbury. The program is coached by Soccer Extreme, a recognized leader in youth development programs since 1992, and managed by a volunteer board of soccer enthusiasts and parents. Boys Premier Development Soccer
A development program for U10 and U11 boys, run by Soccer Extreme and Samba TTP and designed to focus on players primary skill set and expose teams to the tactical understanding of the game at the highest levels, will be conducting a 10-week program beginning on Tuesday, September 10, and running through November 14, at Treadwell Park in Newtown. Youth Track Meets
Bethel High School in Bethel will the site of four summer youth track meets. Every meet will have a 50-meter dash (for athletes 5 and under) as well as 100-, 200-, 400-, 800- and 1,600-meter races. After every meet a clinic will be held for one field event (shot put, javelin, discus, long jump, triple jump). Entry fee is $2 and every runner gets a ribbon with name and time on the back ⦠plus a popsicle. Meets will be held on July 19 and August 2 and 9. Registration will be at 6:30 pm with races starting at 7 pm. Open to athletes from three years of age up through eighth grade.
