*Tickets are going on sale tomorrow morning for The Bob Dylan Show, featuring BOB DYLAN and his band, will roll into New Britain Stadium on August 29. That’s a Tuesday and it’s an early show – 6:30 – which town organizers must just be thrilled about.

I’m kidding, of course.

Imagine what traffic in town is going to be like that evening.

Anyway, tickets are all priced at $49.50 and kids ages 12 and under will get in free with each adult ticket holder. Tickets will be available through TicketMaster outlets, along with New Britain Stadium box office (call 860-224-8383), beginning at 10 am tomorrow (July 15).

This third annual tour of America’s minor league ball parks features performances by Dylan and his band along with Jimmie Vaughan, Lou Ann Barton, Junior Brown, Elana James and The Continental Two.

*Also going on sale tomorrow will be the tickets for AEROSMITH and MÖTLEY CRÜE, who will co-headline at Dodge Music Center on Thursday, September 7. Tickets, which will be available through LiveNation.com, the Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford and TicketMaster outlets, will be $85 and $125 for reserved seats, and $45 for the lawn area.

*Multi-platinum Massachusetts-based STAIND will perform at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, September 2. They will be joined by THREE DAYS GRACE, SEETHER and SOIL.

Tickets have already gone on sale for this show, priced at $32.50 and $37.50 and available through TicketMaster vendors.

*The Sweetport Music & Arts Festival/2006 Summer Sounds of the World series, coordinated by Black Rock Art Center, begins next week with Grammy nominee for Best Tropical Band PLENA LIBRE offering an exclusive US appearance. That show will begin at 6 pm on Friday, July 21, at McLevy Green, which is at the corner of State and Main Streets in Bridgeport.

The following week is a biggie: Blues legend JAMES COTTON will headline on July 28, same location and also starting at 6 pm

Call the arts center, 203-367-7917, or visit InternationalPerformingArts.com or BlackRockArtCenter.com, for additional information. Also, admission is free for these concerts.

*The Ridgefield Playhouse has officially added some more shows to its every-growing calendar (these shows have been quietly on sale for some time, but an “additions for Datebook” press release arrived late last week).

BOB WEIR AND RATDOG will be at the playhouse on Sunday and Monday, August 21-22, and LITTLE FEAT will be in town on Tuesday, September 8.

LEON RUSSELL, as a reminder, will be in Ridgefield on the 29th of this month.

For ticket prices and reservations call 203-438-5795 or visit RidgefieldPlayhouse.org.

*MENTAL HEALTH will add music to this weekend’s opening reception at Bethel Arts Junction.

The classic rock band will be playing, “trackside,” during the opening of BAJ’s summer show, “Dedicated To Artists.” The gallery is in the old Bethel train station, at 5 Depot Place (immediately off Greenwood Avenue, across the RR tracks from One Front Street). The opening reception will run from 6 to 9 pm.

The new exhibition, which will remain on view until August 20, will feature works by more than 40 artists and artisans who have shown at BAJ over the past seven years. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday, 1 to 8 pm, and Sunday, noon to 4 pm. Call 798-2301 for additional information.

*THE DOUG WAHLBERG BAND and guitar virtuoso MARC HUBERMAN will perform at The Acoustic Café in Bridgeport tonight (July 14). The music starts at 8, admission is $6 and open to all ages, and also on the bill will be Adam Currie.

The Wahlberg band includes its namesake on vocals and guitar; George P. Miller, bass; Rich Genovese, drums; and Tim “T-Bone” Stone on keyboards. These guys have appeared with classic acts such as THE RAMONES, DAVID JOHNSON, CHEAP TRICK and MOUNTAIN; next weekend they will be sharing the stage with THE GUESS WHO at Ives Concert Park in Danbury.

The Wahlberg band’s notes says the group “has been electrifying audiences for years, performing originals most cannot distinguish from mainstream radio play. Always hypnotic and driving, the occasional 70s influence can be detected – but with a ‘renovated’ feel. Wahlberg’s guitar work has been compared to Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix and Leslie West … all rolled into one.”

Next weekend’s show will be on the Western CT State University westside campus on Friday, July 21. The park opens for seating and picnics at 5:30, and Doug Wahlberg Band will begin playing at 7:30. Tickets are $35 and $45 for reserved seats, $20 on the lawn for adults and $10 for kids on the lawn. Visit IvesConcertPark.com or contact TicketMaster for tickets.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at club locations are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
