Really, A Reading Of Gordon’s New Play

RIDGEFIELD — Ridgefield Theater Barn will present the second playreading of the 2005-06 season and the fifth in its series of unproduced works by local authors on Tuesday, July 25, at 7:30 pm, with the world premiere of the drama Fake, written and directed by Jim Gordon.

The staged reading series gives local playwrights an opportunity to have their work presented in a professional atmosphere and gives them constructive feedback through a talkback session with the audience immediately following the performance.

The plot involves intrigue in the world of art, artists and museums. A suicide, failed relationships, and a failure to have his work recognized has frustrated and angered artist Fred Myers.

Curator Grace Barlow’s worst nightmare is realized when Meyers — her former lover — informs her that most of her museum’s prized collection of abstract art is fake, and unless she cooperates with his demands, he will publicize this embarrassing information.

Faced with a scandal in the secretive and hypersensitive world of high-priced art, Barlow gives in. Or has she?

With his revenge nearly complete, Fred discovers that the light at the end of the tunnel is not as bright as he expected, but as he reconsiders his demands on Barlow, a stranger appears at his apartment door.

The theater barn is at 37 Halpin Lane.

Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. Seating for readings is theater style. Reservations are not required and doors open at 7.

For more information and directions to the theater, visit TheaterBarn.org or call 203-431-9850.
