Larry Gardner Installed As

President Of Newtown Rotary

Larry Gardner was installed as president of Newtown Rotary for the session running July 1, 2006, to June 30, 2007.

Also taking office were Dick Sturdevant, president elect; Alan Clavette, vice president; Joe Tarshis, secretary; Pat Kelly, treasurer; and Mike Snyder, sergeant at arms. Past District Governor John Annick of Trumbull handled the installation.

Directors installed were Dick Sturdevant, projects; Carrie Swan, membership; Pat Caruso, public relations; Jim McManus, club administration; Ed Osterman, Rotary Foundation; Brian Amey, director at large; and Paul Lux, past president.

Highest Award for a Rotarian in a club is to become a Paul Harris Fellow. Past Vice President of Rotary International Abe Gordon of Fairfield, assisted by Past District Governor Ed Osterman of Newtown, handled the presentation and the first Paul Harris Award was presented to Paul Lux for his dedicated and successful job as president of Newtown Rotary this past year. Alan Clavette, the club’s treasurer for the past five years, was the second person to be awarded the cherished award.

Mr Lux presented the Frank Miles Award to Rotarian Mike Snyder. This award in is honor of Frank Miles, who was an untiring Rotarian who was always available when something had to be done but was never one to seek any praise or reward. Mike Snyder, who has served Rotary for 21 years, lives up to the same traits.

Plaques were given out to Bill Watts and Ed Osterman for 18 years of perfect attendance.

Newtown Rotary meets every Monday evening at 6:15 at the Fireside Inn and anyone interested in learning more about this service organization is invited to attend a meeting.
