Doug Logan's Barn Models Going On View
Doug Loganâs Barn Models
Going On View
KENT â Doug Logan is a man with a passion. Several years ago while reading Eric Sloaneâs book The Age of Barns, he was inspired to make a model of one of the barns he saw pictured. This led to another, and another, and another.
Opening on Saturday, July 15, and running through October 29, the Sloane-Stanley Museum will display a collection of 30 of his model barns.
The Sloane-Stanley Museum in its barn setting is the perfect venue for these miniature barns made of wood, plaster, cement and stone. Here, agricultural tools and Eric Sloaneâs artwork will surround the barn models.
An opening reception will be on Saturday, July 15, from 1 to 4 pm. Mr Logan will be on hand to talk to visitors and refreshments will be served.
âWe are thrilled to have Dougâs models on display in the museum,â said museum assistant Barbara Russ. âLike Eric Sloane, his goal is to promote awareness and appreciation of these picturesque structures. Both men help us to preserve the memories and the spirit of the American farmerâs work place.â
The Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism administers the Sloane-Stanley Museum, which is on Route 7 just one mile north of the intersection with Route 341. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am until 4 pm. For more information, call 860-927-3849.
