Nancy Barbara Jones Calandro died peacefully on July 12, 2023 comforted by family at Maplewood of Stony Hill in Bethel, Conn.

Born in Worcester, MA on January 25, 1937 to Mason and Marion Stone, she was the younger sister of Louise (Stone) MacDonald.

Nancy grew up in Millbury, Mass. where she excelled academically and athletically. She met her husband Robert Jones while working in the insurance business. They lived in Westwood, Mass. where their first son, Douglas, was born. Soon after they moved to South Glastonbury, Conn. where sons Brian and Thomas were born.

Career changes brought the family to Fairfax, Va. where Nancy spent time in high-end retail, catering to various politicians and diplomats in the D.C. area. For those who knew her (and have seen inside her many closets) fashion was a huge part of her persona.

The family then moved to Trumbull, Conn. where Nancy became involved in various forms of real estate, participating on the Trumbull Day committee, and supporting her kids at various sporting and musical events.

Nancy’s golden years were spent with her husband Ralph Calandro in Derby, Conn. where the couple enjoyed boating, traveling, and experiencing the joy of fine dining as often as possible.

While life is full of change, Nancy’s focus on family remained a constant throughout her life. She was a wonderful, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

She is survived by her sister, Louise (Stone) MacDonald of N. Grafton, Mass., her children Douglas Jones and wife Theresa of Sandy Hook, Conn., Thomas Jones and wife Kimberly of Cary, N.C., and Brian Jones of Florida. She was a devoted grandmother, providing love and care to her grandchildren, Caitlin, Liam, Nathaniel, Blake, and Ella.

She is also survived by her nephew and nieces Scott MacDonald, Sandra MacDonald, Gayle Keller, and Linda Ash.

A Graveside funeral service will be held Saturday July 15, 2023, at 11 am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Rd, Trumbull, Conn.

Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown is in charge of arrangements.
