Frances K. Hermanson

Frances K. Hermanson, 90, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of 58 years to the late Andrew Hermanson, died peacefully July 12, with her devoted family by her side. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna Dest Komornik.

Survivors include her children, Beverly Bennett Schaedler, and husband David, of Newtown, Perry Hermanson, and wife Cathy, of Trumbull, John Hermanson, and wife JoAnn, of East Haven; her adoring grandchildren, Russell Bennett of North Carolina, Sarah Bennett of Danbury, Sherry Quintana of Stratford, Kristen Hermanson of Trumbull, John Jay Hermanson, Jr, of Glenburn, Maine; two great-grandchildren; brothers Henry and Joseph Komornik; sister Stephanie Tomasko; and several nieces and nephews. Her siblings Anne Sebastine, Mary Gernat, and Rose, Chris, John, and Michael Komornik predeceased her.

A lifelong Bridgeport resident, Mrs Hermanson was a retired administrative assistant for the State of Connecticut Department of Developmental Services.

She was a devout parishioner, founding member, and Eucharistic minister of St Andrew Church in Bridgeport.

Mrs Hermanson was known for her Irish and zucchini breads, which she served and shared with everyone. It was well known that no one ever went hungry at Grandma Fran's.

She was an active individual who enjoyed shopping and bowling. Mrs Hermanson was known for her kindness by many who considered her their adopted grandmother and mom. The family sends a special note of gratitude to her wonderful caregivers and friends, for their support and compassion shown to Mrs Hermanson.

Friends are invited to go directly to St Andrew’s Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport, Thursday, July 16, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. Interment will follow in Mount Grove of Easton Cemetery. Calling hours will take place Wednesday, July 15, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport.

Memorial donations may be made to St Andrews Church.
