Boggs Hill DUI

Motorist Chad Feli, 25, of 76 Parmalee Hill Road was driving a Ford Taurus sedan eastward on Boggs Hill Road about 3 am July 5, when Feli drove off the eastbound road shoulder and went over a drainage culvert, puncturing the vehicle’s fuel tank and oil pan, police report.

Police said Feli failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. Police called Dodgingtown volunteer firefighters to the accident to clean up the spilled automotive fluids.

After processing Feli’s arrest, police released him on a $50 bond for a July 17 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

 

Danbury Man

Police report they saw motorist Carlos Espino, 34, of Danbury driving on Mt Pleasant Road about 11:30 am July 5 with an expired vehicle registration.

Police stopped Espino to investigate and charged him with driving an unregistered vehicle and with driving under suspension.

After processing the charges, police released Espino on a $200 bond for a July 23 court appearance.

Hawleyville Incident

Police said they received a report about a dispute between two motorists on Hawleyville Road about 3 pm July 4. Police went to the scene and investigated, charging motorist Carlos Macancela, 26, of Danbury with driving under suspension. Police released Macancela on a promise to appear July 23 in Danbury Superior Court.

Vandalism

Sometime between 6 pm June 29 and 8:20 am June 30, someone threw rocks at a motor vehicle parked at 61 Castle Hill Road, police said. The thrown rocks damaged three windows on the vehicle. Police ask anyone with information about the criminal mischief to contact them at 426-5841.

Mailbox

On the morning of July 4, a residential mailbox was found left at a Meadow Brook Road address, police said. The white mailbox has a picture of two birds on it. It bears the numeral 11. The owner should contact police to claim the mailbox.

Construction Site

Police received a report on the morning of July 3 that some items had been stolen from a construction site at 5 Boulder Creek Road on July 1 or July 2. The site is in the Boulder Creek residential subdivision, which is now under construction on a dead end street off Taunton Hill Road, near Dodgingtown.

Items taken include an electric generator, a Makita-brand table saw, two chain saws, a stepladder, a 24-foot-long extension ladder, a tool box, a Roto-Zip tool, and a belt sander, police said. Police ask anyone with information about the theft to contact them at 426-5841.

Vehicle Vandalism

Sometime between 7:30 am and 1 pm on June 26, someone threw a large rock through the rear window of a vehicle parked in a driveway at 51 Taunton Lake Road, police report. Police ask anyone with knowledge about the vandalism to contact them.

Breach of Peace

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Sandra Stephens, 59, of Southbury turned herself over to police on July 6, police said.

Police charged Stephens with breach of peace in connection with a February 25 incident at Braun Moving Inc at 46 Barnabas Road in Hawleyville. Police later released Stephens on a promise to appear July 24 in Danbury Superior Court.

Garner Assault

State police said they received a report about 12:45 pm July 4 that Garner Correctional Institution inmate Francisco Presiti, 35, had thrown a cup of liquid, suspected to be urine, on a correction officer at the high security prison at 50 Nunnawauk Road.

State police charged Presiti with assault on a public safety officer. Presiti is scheduled to be presented in Danbury Superior Court on the charge on July 23.

 

Exit 11 Rocks

State police report that teenage youths were spotted throwing rocks and logs at passing vehicles at Exit 11 of eastbound Interstate 84 on the afternoon of July 1. A thrown object struck a vehicle that was driven by a Rocky Hill man, state police said. The matter is under investigation.

Honda Into Rail

State police report that motorist Kerry Jackson, 29, of Walpole, Mass., who was driving a 1996 Honda sedan, was traveling in the left lane of three lanes on eastbound Interstate 84 near Exit 9 at about 4:30 pm July 1, when Jackson swerved to the left to avoid traffic.

In making the maneuver, Jackson struck the median guard rail, state police said. Jackson was not injured. State police warned Jackson for failure to drive in the proper lane.

Tractor-Trailer

State police report that motorist Afsitin Salehian, 32, of West Hartford, who was driving a 2002 Nissan westward on Interstate 84 about 9 am July 1, stopped in traffic and was struck by tractor-trailer truck driver John Loomis, 39, of Albion, N.Y. There were no reported injuries. State police said Loomis was traveling unreasonably fast.

Unmarked Car

On the afternoon of July 8, police were in an unmarked police car on Route 302 in Dodgingtown, near the Rock Ridge Country Club, when a motorist passed police at high speed.

Police stopped that vehicle to investigate and charged its driver, Robert Martinez, 24, of 4 Valley View Road, with traveling too fast, driving under suspension, and possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.

Police then transported Martinez to the police station where they booked him on the charges. Police released  Martinez on a promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court July 22 to answer the charges.

 

Mile Hill Road

Motorist William Stronge, 31, of Monroe, who was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer, was traveling westward on Mile Hill Road and then stopped for a red traffic signal at that road’s intersection with South Main Street about 5 pm July 4, police said.

Motorist Krista Lukos, 17, of Woodbury, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser, then struck the Ford from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Lukos a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Rear-Ender

Motorist Amanda Harmon, 22, of Trumbull, who was driving a 1997 Honda Civic sedan, was traveling westward on Church Hill Road and then stopped for a stop sign at that road’s intersection with Main Street about 9:30 pm July 4, police said.

Motorist Elizabeth Portnoy, 18, of 14 Winding Brook Road, who was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, then stopped behind the Honda, police said. The Honda rolled forward, after which the Jeep rolled forward and struck the rear end of the Honda, police said. There were no injuries.

Police verbally warned Portnoy for following too closely.

Boggs Hill Crash

Police report motorist Harry Gorman, 51, of Danbury was driving a 1995 Chevrolet van southward on Boggs Hill Road about 8:40 am July 9, when a cellular telephone rang, distracting Gorman. Police said Gorman then looked up at the road and realized that he had crossed its centerline and that a northbound vehicle was approaching.

Gorman then swerved to the left to avoid colliding with the other vehicle, but went off the road, striking a stone wall and some shrubbery at 131 Boggs Hill Road, police said. Gorman was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Flagpole Accident

Police report a two-car accident at the Main Street flagpole intersection about 6:45 pm July 8, involving a 1989 Toyota Corolla driven by Scott Zimmer, 48, of Monroe, and a 1998 Saturn SL-2 driven by Amanda Cannatta, 19, of 13 Appleblossom Lane. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Zimmer a written warning for passing on the right.

Church Hill Collision

 Motorist Frederick McClafferty, 74, of Stamford, who was driving a 1998 Volvo station wagon westward on Church Hill at about 1:40 pm July 9, was making a left turn into the Blue Colony Diner parking lot, as motorist Frederick Mazzoccoli, 46, of Newington was driving a 2000 Ford eastward on Church Hill Road, police said. The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued McClafferty a written warning.

Ford Vs Nissan

Motorist Carmineia Oliveira, 25, of Naugatuck, was driving a 1999 Nissan Altima eastward on Church Hill Road about 4:30 pm July 8, when motorist Dorothy Caruso, 55, of Danbury, who was driving a 1995 Ford Escort, pulled out of the Blue Colony Diner parking lot, resulting in a collision. There were no injuries. Police issued Caruso a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
