The Childrenâs Adventure Center, an accredited preschool, recently acknowledged the accomplishment of Nora Lundgren and Megan Thompson for their attainment of Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials by the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C., which represents the early childhood profession. The council recognized the outstanding work of Ms Lundgren and Ms Thomas through careful observation of their interaction with young children. In addition, a candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with families to develop childrenâs physical and intellectual capabilities in a safe and healthy learning environment.
Nora Lundgren, who began working as a teacher aide at the Childrenâs Adventure Center in 1999, actively pursued continuing her education, acquiring additional skills to further encourage the healthy social and behavioral development of youngsters at the Adventure Center. In June 2002, Ms Lundgren was promoted to teacher.
Megan Thompson joined the Childrenâs Adventure Center staff as a teacher aide in 2001 and continued to take additional courses in early childhood education. She was recently promoted to teacher assistant.
â[The staff and Board of Directors] are all very proud of Nora and Megan,â said Rose Luizzi, director of the center. âThey have made an outstanding contribution to the Childrenâs Adventure Center and to our effort to provide excellence in preschool education for the children of our area.â
The Childrenâs Adventure Center offers a 12-month program for 3-to-5 year olds, as well some kindergartners. The Childrenâs Adventure Center, nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and fully licensed by the state of Connecticut and the town of Newtown, has been serving families since 1969.
