How Long in Newtown: I moved to Newtown in 1981 from Monroe. Prior to that, we lived all over New England because of my dadâs work. We never lived anywhere more than two years. I always found it fun meeting new people. I was born in Quincy, Mass.
Biggest Change Seen in Town: The growth in the community, but it still keeps its rustic charm and country appeal that I found when I moved here.
Family: I am single.
Pets: I have a 14-year-old cat named Spike.
Hobbies: I enjoy country and western dancing, waterskiing, skiing, gourmet cooking, and entertaining friends, photography, and anything athletic. I love to be busy. Iâm also running. My newest endeavor is running a marathon for the Arthritis Foundation in Dublin, Ireland, in honor of a little girl in Newtown who has arthritis. I also love to feed and watch birds.
Favorite Books and Authors: I like to read, but most of my reading is fitness information. Iâm always trying to better myself in regard to certifications. Iâm going for my personal trainer certification now. I love cookbooks, but never stick to a recipe. I like to take an old recipe and a new recipe and add something new.
Favorite TV Show: I donât watch much TV, but when I do I like to watch the Travel channel to get ideas of places I would like to see someday. I also enjoy nature shows.Â
Organizations: Â I serve on the Mural Committee with David Merrill. I have the original painting of the mural, from which lithographs were made and sold to benefit the mural preservation. I am a member of the Newtown Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors for ten years. I am a past president of the Newtown Jaycees and a past member of the Business and Professional Women.
Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: Going up Main Street for the first time and seeing the beautiful homes and big trees. Going to the General Store. I love the way theyâve preserved the street. I also remember Ram Pasture, and how I imagined the lambs running all over it and how the town used to be. It is really neat. The flagpole is beautiful. Before I moved here, I had never come to Newtown. I always went south, such as to Fairfield for the beach. Newtownâs just a beautiful town.
Favorite Vacation Spot: Anywhere warm where thereâs a great beach and beautiful sunset.
Personal Philosophy: I feel I always want to treat people as I would want to be treated. I believe in living for today⦠you donât know whatâs coming tomorrow, so enjoy today. I believe in appreciating what you have and always helping others. You should appreciate what you have. I believe in treating people fairly as I would expect to be treated in return.
