Daniel P. Dittmar of Sandy Hook graduated from Quinnipiac University in Hamden on May 10 with a master of science in organizational leadership.
Stacy Shpunt graduated Magna cum Laude from Ithaca College, in Ithaca, N.Y., recently with a bachelor of science degree in integrated marketing communications. Stacy was also inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and the Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Honor Society.
Newtown and Sandy Hook students earned a spots on Lauralton Hallâs fourth quarter honor roll. Newtowners earning high honors were freshmen Nicole Lane and Rhea Schneider; sophomore Katherine Siroky; senior Mary LoPiccolo. Earning honors were freshman Mary Siroky; sophomore Megan Murphy; junior Chelsea Boggs; seniors Annemarie Davis, Meagan Kelly, and Margaret Morrissey. From Sandy Hook, high honors were earned by freshmen Christina Gould, Alexandra Hamar, and Kelly Ann McCarthy; senior Hannah Glasrud. Earning honors were freshman Amanda Watson; sophomore Emily Marussich; juniors Caitlin Kalbacher and Shannon McCarthy.
Sarah Catherine Harmonay and Brian J. Tenney, both of Sandy Hook were named on the Deansâ Commendation List for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2009 at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Penn. At the college students with a quality point average of 3.33 or higher for the semesterâs work are placed on the Deanâs Commendation List.
Emily Fiorey, daughter of Sue Fiorey and the late Al Fiorey, was named to the spring 2009 Deanâs List at Fairfield University. To be selected for the Deanâs List at the university students must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 of a possible 4.0. Emily is majoring in psychology at the university.
Alex Michael Hennessey of Sandy Hook and a student at the College of Charleston (N.C.) was elected into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nationâs oldest, largest and selective all-discipline honor society, and the 2008-2009 inaugural class of the William Aiken Fellows Society, which supports the intellectual and professional growth of highly capable students on the campus.
