Occupation: I own a salon right over the border of Newtown, in Monroe, Hair Attraction Design Team. I’m into my 17th year there.

Family: My husband, Ian, and I will celebrate our 19th anniversary this October. We have three boys. Rolt is 8; Douglas is 6; and Stone is 4 years old.

Pets: We lost our two Newfoundlands last year, and we just haven’t been able to enter that world again. We had them for 12 years and they were our children before we had children. We aren’t ready for that yet. So right now, we are petless.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We have lived here ten years this June. We built our home in 1999.

What do you like to do in your free time? We like to sail in our free time, basically in Long Island Sound. We like to be on the water. As a family, we travel a lot, too. We enjoy the beach, our pool, and sports. The boys are in baseball and it’s just great.

Do you get a chance to read? I would love to have more time to read. The last book I read was Atonement by Ian McEwan. I saw the movie first, and I immensely enjoyed both the movie and the book.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I’d have to say our most recent trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It was the first long weekend away together for my husband and me in nine years. Ian went dune buggying, and we enjoyed the restaurants, the beaches, and the shopping. It was so low-key and quiet. It was so authentic and wonderful.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The school system. I have two children in the Middle Gate School. My mother was the secretary to the principal in the school when I was growing up, so I have an “insider’s” look at schools. I love Middle Gate. My second grader just did a PowerPoint demonstration in front of about 35 people. We were so proud to be a part of it. We’ve had a fantastic experience with the schools.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Where there’s a will, there is a way. I found it in a fortune cookie a long time ago, and it meant a lot to me at the time. I carry it with me in my wallet to this day. I apply it to every thing, and to every one. If you want something, there is a way to get it.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? “Me” time. That’s a guilty pleasure when you have three kids and a business. I do enjoy having some quiet time to do whatever I choose to do.
