Cajun And Creole At Library, Fri.

River City Slim & The Zydeco Hogs will be featured in a free concert at C.H. Booth Library this weekend, continuing the  library’s annual summer music series. The Friday, July 12 concert begins at 7 pm, but the audience is welcome to arrive early for picnic dinners.

Bring blankets and/or low chairs for seating. In the event of rain the concert will move inside. The library is at 25 Main Street/Route 25.

River City Slim & The Zydeco Hogs promise each of their shows will be “a hefty slab of greasy zydeco with a side of rockin’ cajun!” Zydeco is result of traditional Cajun and Creole music having collided with rhythm and blues, a sound that first became popular during the early 1950s. Today the Hartford-based band brings “the sounds of the steamy bayous of southwestern Louisiana to the hills of New England.”

The band has been invited back to Newtown thanks to its very successful show at Booth Library during last summer’s concert season.

For additional information contact C.H. Booth Library at 426-4533.
