James Parker recently passed away peacefully after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

Jim was born and raised in Astoria Queens, New York. He was a graduate of All Hallows High School and Iona College. His business career was focused on Information Technology and Finance, working for IBM for 37 years.

Jim and his beloved wife Joan of 58 years lived in the Bronx; Stony Point, New York; Bethel, Connecticut; and South Carolina. Jim was proud of his service as a Military Police officer stationed in Germany during the mid 1950s.

Jim loved his family and was especially proud of his three adult grandchildren. Jim loved many sports, but baseball was his favorite from an early age. He was a big Yankees fan, but also rooted for the Atlanta Braves when he moved South. He also rooted for UConn Women’s basketball, the NY Rangers and NY Giants.

Jim is survived by his sons, James (Marie) of Sandy Hook, Connecticut and John of Woodstock, Georgia; three grandchildren: James Parker, Michael Parker, and Christine (Humberto) Quiroz; and his sister-in-law Deborah (Kevin) Coleman of New York City.

Jim was predeceased by his wife Joan, and parents James and Margaret Parker, all of New York City.

Jim will be buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at Donate Today | The American Cancer Society.
