James Grabowski To Present Next SCAN Program
James Grabowski To Present Next SCAN Program
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host James Grabowski painting in acrylic at its next meeting, on Wednesday, July 14, at 7:30 pm. His subject will be a landscape, but he will start by putting down abstract shapes.
The free program will take place at Newtown Meeting House (lower level), 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole).
James Grabowski speaks of his work as âoptimistic celebrations of color.â Although known primarily as a painter of expansive, canvases filled with bold color and motion, his more recent work also includes impressionistic landscape paintings that are more quiet, often inspired by the Connecticut countryside around his home in Marlborough, images he sees while driving around the area. Mr Grabowski believes that people connect with art for various reasons. Abstracts often stir feelings deep inside them and landscapes are often places they would like to go.
Mr Grabowski received his bachelorâs and masterâs degrees from Central Connecticut State University. For the last twenty years he has worked full time at his art, and in recent years he has received commissions for his paintings and collages from more than 100 major corporations, among them Pratt & Whitney, General Electric, IBM, Aetna Life and Casualty, and Southern New England Telephone. His work also has been sought by non-profit organizations such as Connecticut Public Television and New Haven Symphony Orchestra.
He has won over 200 prizes and first place awards with his flair for the dynamic, and presently serves on the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.
