*Also tonight, a reminder for anyone who missed the announcement last weekend that the 2010 AMERICAN IDOL LIVE! concert originally scheduled to take place at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Monday, September 13, has been rescheduled to this Friday, July 9. Tickets for the September 13 date will be honored tonight.
The July 13 show at Mohegan Sun Arena will not be effected by this date change. For further assistance, customers may call TicketMaster Customer Service at 800-653-8000.
*And still tonight (there is a pattern here, yes), fresh from its summer siesta, country band MIDNIGHT RODEO will be at The Cookhouse in New Milford for a New Country Barn Dance this weekend â on Friday, July 9, in fact.
Showtime is 9:30.
(BTW, rumor has it The One-Eyed Pig will be celebrating its recent renovations with an afternoon show this weekend. Midnight Rodeo will also be performing that one, set to start around 2 at 71 South Main Street in Newtown.)
*Speaking of The Pig, Jim Sheridan says, and I quote, âJuly will be a Pig-tastic month for THE ADULTS.â
Jim and the band were on the schedule to host an open mic this week (July 8) at The One-Eyed Pig. If you missed that, no worries â the band will be back at 71 South Main for another open mic night on Thursday, July 29, and then again for their own headlining show on Saturday, July 31.
In between those shows thereâs also a gig scheduled for Thursday, July 22, at Redding Roadhouse. That one will offer guests one acoustic set followed by an electric set.
*STEWART, a pop-rock band out of Brooklyn, N.Y., headed by singer/songwriter Andrea Tarka (an acupuncturist by day), will be at Heirloom Arts Theatre in Danbury next week.
The band has a 9 pm show scheduled for Friday, July 16. Expect to hear some of the âinfectiously enthusiastic music with a punk edgeâ (according to their publicist) that was included on the independently released album, Kicks, just last month.
*Quintessential American band THE FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS, who have been performing and recording for more than 30 years, will headline at Fairfield Theatre Companyâs StageOne on Wednesday, July 28.
Tickets are $42 ($32 for FTC members), and available by contacting the theaterâs box office at 203-259-1036.
Until next week, Iâll be seeing you⦠on the road.
Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
