Summer Reading Program Begins
Summer Reading Program Begins
To the Editor:
Last Wednesday morning the children of Newtown were treated to a performance and book sale in conjunction with the kickoff to the annual summer reading program sponsored by the C.H. Booth Library. The proceeds from the Childrenâs Book Sale are donated to the library to support special events like Casey Carleâs Bubblemania and the summer reading program.
Our thanks go to the following individuals:
The volunteer members of the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library who helped setup and run the sale, in particular Lynne and H.D. Bassett; Alan, Amanda, and Jay Diaz; Ginelle and Micah Gaulin-McKenzie; Brian and Daphne Gibney; Eric Neidhardt, Gloria Ricco, Barbara Yarbrough, Joanne Zang, and Eleanor Zolov;
Bea Gellert, Kathy Nostrand, and the custodial staff â especially Rich â at the Reed Intermediate School for facilitating our use of the cafetorium; and
Alana Meloni, the library staff, and youth volunteers who run the summer reading program.
Keep your eyes peeled for other special events for the whole family this summer funded by the Friends!
