Openings In Weston Summer Chorus
WESTON â The Second Annual Weston Summer Chorus has openings for singers high school age and up. The chorus will rehearse and perform Ein Deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms.
Rehearsals are in the parish hall of Norfield Congregational Church, 64 Norfield Road, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 pm. This seasonâs rehearsals began July 6, but newcomers will still be welcomed on July 13. The public concert will be Thursday, July 29, at 8 pm.
Singers will be asked to contribute a registration fee of $20 to help defray expenses.
Almost 40 singers from many surrounding towns have already signed up, including residents of Danbury, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Wilton, Weston, Redding, Westport, Stamford, and Greenwich.
The Summer Chorus gives choir members an opportunity to sing a major work in the summer, when most choirs do not meet. Ellen Dickinson, the director of music at Norfield Congregational Church, will conduct the chorus.
Ms Dickinson has served as acting director of the Yale Glee Club, and was director of Yale Summer Chorus and Yale Freshman Chorus for three years.
She holds a master of music degree from Yale School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music, and is an active organ and carillon recitalist.
Interested singers should contact the music office of Norfield Congregational Church at 203-227-7886, extension 14, or send email to ellen@norfield.org to register.
