Fairy Tale Theater Returns
This Weekend
DANBURY â Musicals at Richter, Fairfield Countyâs longest-running outdoor theater, will present Fairy Tale Theater on Saturday mornings beginning July 11 on the grounds of Wooster School. The series is a set of plays for children ages 3 to 12, performed by an ensemble of local young actors.
This yearâs series is again being directed by Elyse Janesky. Productions will include The Velveteen Rabbit on July 10, The Pied Piper of Hamelin on July 17, The Jungle Book on July 24, and Sleeping Beauty on July 31.
Each hour-long show is introduced by Mother Goose (Ms Jasensky) who also serves as narrator, and includes arts and crafts activities, plenty of audience participation, and special surprise guests.
Featured in the 2004 Fairy Tale Theater troupe are Alyse Brautigam, Diana Curcuruto, Nick Petrovich and Sydney Russell of Newtown; Hayley Keller of Monroe; TJ Bollerman of Ridgefield; Lindsey Partelow of New Milford; Daniel Mendence of Bethel; Mitchell DeSimone and Renee Wasko of Redding; and Bennett Jasensky, Brianna Henley, Liam Murphy, and Johnny and Carly Spina of Danbury. Jean Murdoch of Ridgefield serves as assistant director of the company.
Fairy Tale Theater Director and Danbury resident Elyse Jasensky is an accomplished performer who has previously appeared on the Richter stage in Godspell, Guys and Dolls and as the indomitable Mama Rose in Gypsy. She has also worked in numerous theaters in Westchester and Fairfield Counties, with credits ranging from Side By Side by Sondheim to Annie Get Your Gun and Annie. When sheâs not âtreading the boards,â Ms Jasensky teaches second grade and music at Maimonides Academy in Danbury.
