Bicycle Found

On July 4, police received for safekeeping a mountain bike that was found at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street. The owner of the missing bicycle should contact police at 3 Main Street to claim it.

Alcohol Charge

Police report they stopped motorist Steve Phillips, 18, of 24 Washbrook Road while he was driving on Church Hill Road on the night of July 6 to investigate.

Police charged Phillips with possession of alcohol by a minor and with driving while under suspension. Police released Phillips into the custody of his parents for a July 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

South Main DUI

Police said they stopped motorist Alan Toikka, 51, of 26 Osborn Hill Road while he was driving on South Main Street on the night of July 6 to investigate.

Police charged Toikka with driving under the influence, driving while under suspension, misuse of marker plates, and failure to drive to the right.

Newtown police said they learned that Westchester County police in New York State held an arrest  warrant on Toikka and are seeking to extradite him to New York.

Newtown police held Toikka on $100,000 bail for a July 7 appearance in Danbury Superior Court on the four motor vehicle charges.
