SCAN Meeting
Melody Asbury will paint figures in action using oil media for the next meeting of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) on Wednesday, July 14, at 7:30 pm. The meeting is open to the public, free of charge, and will be at Newtown Meeting House (lower level), 31 Main Street in Newtown.
Art is an important part of Ms Asburyâs life. She started painting at Ridgewood Art Institute while in her teens, specializing in portraiture.
Ms Asbury then continued her studies at Wesleyan University and Dayton Art Institute. Her subjects include research and paintings of American Indians to lively studies of farm animals, which was prompted by her involvement at Ellis Clark Regional Agri-Science and Technology Centerin Woodbury.
Ms Asbury, a past president of SCAN, is also a member of Washington Art Association, Watertown Art League, Kent Art Association and North Shore Arts Association.
Her work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions at art galleries throughout the region.
She currently paints from her home studio in Woodbury.
