Americans on average consume 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

More hot dogs were eaten at Los Angeles’ Dodgers Stadium – 1.5 million in 2001 – than in any other major league ballpark in the country

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council estimates that Americans consume more than 2 billion hot dogs each July, which is National Hot Dog Month. The Los Angeles area leads the country with just over 36.5 million pounds of hot dogs consumed; New York City accounts for 33.3 million pounds of dogs.

Based on an annual survey of major league ballparks, Dodgers Stadium sells more hot dogs – 1.5 million per season – than any other stadium.

Per capita, Americans eat 70 hot dogs each year.

Sara Lee Corp. made a 1,996-foot-long wiener – the longest in history – in honor of the 1996 Olympics.

Mustard is the favored hot dog topping among adults age 35 and up, while younger adults prefer ketchup.
