The Rising Star Summer Basketball League will be back for its sixth season at Treadwell Park and all players (boys and girls in grades 6-9) interested in participating should register soon. The league, sponsored by the Newtown Parks and Recreation Department, will begin on July 11. There will be two games per week, in the evenings, at Treadwell Park. Participation will include playoffs, clinics, and an All Star game. Registration forms are available at the Parks and Recreation office. The program code is 41020A for the boys and 41020B for the girls and the fee will be $70. A roster of 12 players per team is anticipated, which ensures a full schedule yet allows players to vacation as well as participate in other summer sports events. Any parents interested in coaching should call coach John Quinn at 270-7275.

There is Motors in Motions running July 19-23, 9:30 to 11:30 am for ages 3 to 5 ($110 per child); Tots in Tights Ballet from July 19-23, 12:15 to 2:15 pm for ages 3-5, 12:15pm -2:15 pm for ages 3 to 5 ($110 per child); Space Camp from July 12-16 for ages 3 to 8, 9:30 to 11:30 am ($110 per child); Olympics in Newtown from July 12-16 for ages 3 to 8 for ages 3-8, 12:15 to 2:15 pm ($110 per child); Wilderness Camp from July 26-30 and August 9-13 for ages 4 to 10, 9:30 to 11:30 am ($110 per child); Brain Gym from August 8-13 for ages 3 to 8, 12:15 to 2:15 pm ($110 per child).

And then there is Three Cheers for Newtown from August 2-6 for ages 4 to 10, 9:30 to 11:30 am and 12:15 to 2:15 pm ($110 per child). All campers attending both am and pm sessions may stay for Lunch Bunch, free of charge. Campers bring two small snacks and a lunch with a drink.For availability and information call 270-1170.

Choose from -

Summer Horse Camp runs July12-16, July 26-30, and August 16-20 for ages 3 to 6, 7 to 10, and 11 and over. Fee is $275 per child. Hours are 9 am to 12 noon.

Dance Camp runs July 26-30 for ages 3 to 8. Come explore the world of dance from 9 am to 12 noon. Fee is $125 per child.

Tennis Camp runs July12-23, July 26-August 6, and August 9-20 for ages 4 and up.
