Knights Of Columbus Install Officers

Tom Kowalsky, District Deputy for the Knights of Columbus, recently led the installation of officers for the Knights of Columbus St Virgilius Council, 4th Degree Assembly 3230 and 3rd Degree officers, for 2011-12.

The following have been sworn in for the local Assembly: Father Ignacio, Associate Faithful Friar; Len Moritz, Faithful Navigator; John Moulder, Faithful Captain; Jud Doyle, Faithful Admiral; Chris Locke, Faithful Comptroller; Tim Haas, Faithful Purser; John Barry, Faithful Pilot; Charlie Hettenbach, Faithful Scribe; John Mead, Inner Sentinel; Art Bennett, Joe Moran, and John Sperra, Trustees; Kirk Babyak, Color Guard Commander; and Larry Rice, Color Guard.

The following men were installed into Knights of Columbus St Virgilius Council 185 3rd Degree Offices, beginning with Tim Reilly, who will remain Grand Knight, and Tim Hass as Deputy Grand Knight. Monsignor Robert E. Weiss remains as Chaplain, and Father Ignacio Ortigas remains as Associate Chaplain.

Also sworn in last month were Dick Dunseith, Chancellor; Jud Doyle, returning as Recorder; Larry Rice, Financial Secretary; Chris Graham, returning as Treasurer; John Barry, returning as Warden; Chris Carney, returning as Inside Guard; Kirk Babyak, returning as Outside Guard; John Moulder, Len Moritz, and Jim Tevnan all remain as Trustees; and Ron Kopcik is Past Financial Secretary.

Virgilius Council was founded on August 16, 1896,  through the efforts of 34 founding members. The Virgilius Council works closely with St Rose, providing funds and other resources for various social projects, actively participating in Catholic programs at the local, regional, state and national level, and enjoying social activities that provides a model for the Catholic man.

The St Rose of Lima Assembly will be participating in the New Fairfield Independence Day Parade on July 4. Their next appearance is scheduled to be on Sunday, August 7, when they participate in the SWIM Across the Sound Memorial Service, 8 am at Captain’s Cove in Bridgeport.
