Volunteer Day: HORSE of Connecticut, a non-profit, all-volunteer horse rescue organization, will hold a Volunteer Day on Saturday, July 9 from 9 am to 4 pm, at 43 Wilbur Road in Washington. Activities will include clean-up, repairing fences, and grooming and walking horses. Lunch will be provided. Those with their own tools are asked to bring them. Rain date: July 10. Stable Management At Post: Post University offers Stable Management II, as part of its Equine Husbandry series, July 25 through September 19. The course covers subjects from barn organization and pasture care, including fencing and drainage, to bedding and manure management, plus fly control. There will be advice on basic barn design for good ventilation, feeding and watering choices and storage, as well as discussions on environmental impacts of horse-keeping. The course will be held from 6:30- 9:30 pm on Post Universityâs Waterbury campus in the Equine Center â MacDermid Hall, Room 212 (park in the North parking lot on Country Club Rd., Exit 17 off of I-84). Cat Food Drive: Help The Animal Center feed a stray for a day. Donate a can of kitten or cat food during The Animal Centerâs summer cat food drive drive at Caraluzziâs Market from July 24-31.Â
