Bar Associationâs Pro Bono Award
Goes To Newtowner
NEW BRITAIN â At each Annual Meeting, the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) acknowledges the outstanding work of select members with a Pro Bono Award for their commitment and dedication to pro bono service. On June 23, the CBA recognized attorney Gail A. Bedoukian of Newtown with a 2011 Pro Bono Award.
Nominated by Statewide Legal Services, Ms Bedoukian received the award in recognition of her pro bono work on a particularly challenging five-year case. She, along with Bridgeport attorney Janine M. Becker, represented a group of tenants against a landlord who chose to eschew the legal eviction process in favor of using physical assaults, threats, and acts of vandalism to force the tenants to leave.
The case settled in favor of the tenants.
âThe courage and commitment to her clients and to justice more than adequately demonstrates how deserving Gail is of this award,â CBA President Ralph J. Monaco said.
