Tercentennial Calendar Summer Events

Through July 31 — “Tools of The Trade,” exhibition by Newtown Historical Society at Booth Library, presentation of occupational tools and utensils used regularly from 18th through early 20th Century.

July 9 — Tercentennial House & Garden Tour, 11 am-5 pm, tickets $25 (remaining tickets available at Matthew Curtiss House, 10 am—noon); presented by and benefit for Newtown Historical Society.

July 14 — US Air Force Airmen of Note concert at Newtown High School, 7:30 pm, free (non-ticket holders will be granted entrance, as space allows, after 7:15); for tickets, call Jason Hsu at 270-1138.

July 30 — Opening reception for “Passport to Newtown’s Past” archival exhibit, at C.H. Booth Library’s lower meeting room, 10 am to 2 pm; exhibit will remain on view until August 31.

July 30 — “Historical Dance and Music in Newtown,” C.H. Booth Library lower meeting room, free program by Patricia Campbell & The Reel Thing to coincide with “Passport to Newtown’s Past” opening will offer dance and music selections of New England from early 18th through early 19th centuries; 426-4533.

August 6 — All-Day Birthday Celebration at Fairfield Hills campus with family picnic, live music, games, antique car show, vintage baseball, fireworks; also bocce/croquet tournament at The Pleasance.

September 4 — Al’s Trail Celebratory Open House, bridge at Rocky Glen State Park at Dayton Street, 10 am-1 pm.

September 5 — Newtown’s Tercentennial Labor Day Parade, begins 10 am.
