Shakespeare At The Zoo

BRIDGEPORT — Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo will host As You Like It, the sixth annual production of Bridgeport Free Shakespeare, the evenings of July 22-24, July 27-31 and August 3-7, at the zoo, 1875 Noble Avenue.

An intern pre-show will begin at 7 pm each night, and the main show will begin at 8. The zoo’s Picnic Grove opens at 6 for  bring picnic dinners or purchase from the zoo’s concession.

Admission is free. Performances will be canceled in the event of rain.

Attendees should bring their own blankets and chairs for seating. The zoo itself will not be open for touring during the evening.

Bridgeport Free Shakespeare, under the direction of Ellen Lieberman, is a professional educational theater project in its sixth season. Actors and stage managers are members of Actors’ Equity Association.

BFS is committed to producing understandable and entertaining performances of Shakespeare’s plays accessible to a broad range of audience members, including those not familiar with Shakespeare’s work, without jeopardizing artistic integrity.
